Sky Pieces

The Letter (Musique : Laure Brisa / Canblaster - Paroles : Ghislaine Vautier / Laure Brisa)

I was waiting for my mother

The sun was shining merrily

I was feeling very happy

Then by accident

I let one nickel fall

Twinkling and shining

I couldn’t stop myself

One by one I let each coin fall to play in the sun

and just  humming to myself.

I can still see the coins dancing in the sun.

It was so, so pretty

I was feeling very happy

The sun was shining merrily

Let’s sit to the sun

Let’s stay at the sun

It’s a shinny day

Oh My visions

The Letter Instrumental (Letter from Ghislaine Vautier to & read by  Emily Harries)

Hi Emily,

I was watching snow fall on a TV show and it reminded me of a strange, lovely day when I was seven years old.

We were living in New York in an apartment on the 10th floor. I was waiting for my mother as we were going out to a store especially for me. I was going to buy a new scrap book ; I loved to do cut-outs of people and animals and different objects which I then pasted into scrap books. I had saved Pocket money to buy a new book and was standing in front of the open window of my room, holding all of my nickels and dimes in one hand. The sun was shining merrily and I was feeling very happy.

Then, by accident, I let one nickel fall. It went down, twinkling and shining, all the way to the courtyard, ten stories below. It was so, so pretty I couldn’t stop myself. One by one I let each coin fall to play in the sun and just stood there watching and humming to myself.

My mother came in as I let the last one go. She had to do what mums have to do: she sent me down to the courtyard to find my coins. I couldn’t find a single one. So Mummy said; «you will have to save your money again Ghislaine. We won’t go to the store today.» I had to wait for a long time before I could buy a new scrap book which I am sure I would have forgotten all about by now. But I can still see the coins dancing in the sun.

Love, Ghislaine

Oxidised Hearts

Barley Sugar (Paroles et Musique Laure Brisa - Prod, Mix, Arr choeurs : Romuald Lauverjon )

Barley sugar

of coney island

in the sky

this morning

From the train i saw

a little donkey thin and wet

in the middle of a field

and the morning mist

and the blurry trees

and birds on a wire

above walls of taggers

Barley sugar

of coney island

in the sky

this morning

In my scrapbook i will paste

my memories of you

two braids dipped in ink blue

and a dish of crayfish

and a knucklebones player

and a salamander

Barley sugar

of coney island

in the sky

this morning

All those women are gone

called to an other place

this train runs on each side of the vacuum

like that young girl with her life on a wire

And i'm reading Yeats

a poem of that crazed girl

"Heroicaly lost heroicaly found"

Sweet Dancer ( Musique : Laure Brisa - Paroles : W.B Yeats)

The girl goes dancing there

On the leaf-sown, new-mown, smooth

Grass plot of the garden;

Escaped from bitter youth,

Escaped out of her crowd,

Or out of her black cloud.

Her poetry, dancing upon the shore

wound, wound wound

She stood in desperate music wound

Ah, dancer, ah, sweet dancer!

If strange men come from the house

To lead her away, do not say

That she is happy being crazy;

Lead them gently astray;

Let her finish her dance,

Let her finish her dance.

Ah, dancer, ah, sweet dancer!

Tango (Paroles & Musique : Laure Brisa - Voix, Prod Rythmique : Romuald Lauverjon )

She said,

What have you seen in my eyes?

What have you seen in me?

This is not only because I'm pretty

No, no Why me?

He kept silent

He didn't dare

He stared at her

Space was troubled

He thought

What goes between ourselves

What flows between ourselves

Something said no no

Something said uh yeah

The real word underneath

Who has ever swum so deep?

You Know?

No, we know, we know

But we do want

Have you seen the man, wandering?

Have you seen his broken wing?

Is that him you're looking at? Is that you?

Begging love at the boarder?

Behind his own barbed wire?

Have you seen that child?

Have you heard the silence of her foodsteps on tiptoe?

To not disturb this deserted banquet

With nobody to share

Have you seen the old woman in the caravan

The bottles of whisky, those generous eyes

And that stagnant anguish

No, we know, we know

But we do want

They danced at the boarder

They danced in the troubled water

Their sensitive laught

Their drunken bodies

Their oxidised hearts

And Trembling you know

At dawn they doved through space

At dawn they escaped

To this glittering place

Where Butterflies come

Where Butterflies go

We are Butterflies

Another Place

La Chambre (Paroles : Laure Brisa / Musique : Laure Brisa, Guillaume de La Villéon / Production : Nicolas Petitfrère)

A ta place je me suis allongée

Zephyr (Paroles: Laure Brisa / Musique : Laure Brisa, Guillaume De La Villéon / Production : Nicolas Petitfrère)

The road brought a man

Who came to lie on the stone

He eyed me

All the full moon night long

He shook my soul with his eyes

And I played for him, for him

Seagulls were flying around

The abbey was drowning

Here ran a tear, oh lord

Please remember

And the wind took him over

The zephyr took him over

Cause I asked to the day

I prayed to the day

Under this burning sun

In the empty abbey

How has he come, how has he gone

He came with the wind

And with the wind he went

Splendid existence

In gold in red

See the sapphire trees

He brought wild horses

And peacocks from other spaces

Here grew a blossom, oh love

Please remember

And the wind took him over

The zephyr took him over

Doors slamming since the dawn of time

La Servante (Paroles & Musique : Laure Brisa Production : Nicolas Petitfrère)

My eyes as a beacon,
Look for you in heaven
In a sea of clouds
I say your name

I just want you
To speak to me once again
About the wind
About this open sky
We both know that we fell from a height

I feel asleep now, i'm ready to hear
Do you see the light
Behind my door?
Will you enter?
I'm dreaming of a field
In the center
There is a tree
Made of our bodies
Connecting heaven and sea

Thus love crossed the sky
Wearing the hair of a star,
Dead since the dawn of time
The story above

 Flows over us

Sorrows

(Musique Laure Brisa , Prod executive + Arr : Nicolas Petitfrère , Prod rythmique : Canblaster  - Paroles : Benoît Gob / Laure Brisa)

An eagle cries in the wild sky

Look at this heat

How can he survive ?

What a day hidden away

Cause i need to heal my sorrows

My life that you ignore is here

And nobody knows

My heart takes a breath before the morrow

This lazy day will give momentum

What a day hidden away

Cause i need to heal my sorrows

My life that you ignore is here

And nobody knows

October is almost done

Are you gonna come ?

Coma

Today is a beginning

Today is a beginning

The metal sea shimmers

Oh My glorious sister

I removed my skins

To come back to you

And now I hear

And now I feel

Our sorrows collide and collapse us

The blind heart holds on to the lie

Find a sword against illusion

Look over the sky

Look under the sea

How they look alike

Time’s wings are beating

You’re a tiny twig

Carried by the gusts

(Turn inward

Enlightened

This place is your home )

Beat the rythm of the wind

Cross the storm as a conductor baton

Oh my glorious sister

My shinny soul

I’m staring at you

I swear I will carry you

I swear I will love you

Hamlet Acte 4 Scène 5 - Entre Ophélie  ( Musique : Laure Brisa / Paroles : Shakespeare)

“A-down, a-down,”

They bore him barefac’d on the bier,

Hey non nonny, nonny, hey nonny,

And in his grave rain’d many a tear”—

Fare you well, my dove!

You must sing, “A-down, a-down,”

And you call him a-down-a.

O how the wheel becomes it! It is the false steward, that stole his master’s daughter.

There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance; pray you, love, remember. And there is pansies, that’s for thoughts.

There’s fennel for you, and columbines.

There’s rue for you, and here’s some for me; we may call it herb of grace a’ Sundays. You may wear your rue with a difference. There’s a daisy. I would give you some violets, but they wither’d all when my father died. They say ’a made a good end—

“For bonny sweet Robin is all my joy.”

“And will ’a not come again?

And will ’a not come again?

No, no, he is dead,

Go to thy death-bed,

He never will come again.

His beard was as white as snow,

All flaxen was his pole,

He is gone, he is gone,

He is dead and gone, lady,

He is dead and gone,

God, We know what we are

But we don't know what we may be

He is dead and gone, lady,

He is dead and gone,

And we cast away moan,

God ’a’ mercy on his soul!”

And of all Christians’ souls, I pray God.

God buy you.

Good night, ladies, good night.

Sweet ladies, good night, good night.

We were here we are not anymore

Elle a levé les yeux vers lui, c'est à peine si elle ose lui parler, faute de savoir s'y prendre;

She"s walking in the puddles

she's talking to night

she hold her hands

Leaving Room

Good Boy ( Musique : Laure Brisa - Paroles : W.B Yeats / Laure Brisa)

Honey… Where are you ?

I’m just here, in the living room

Good boy, good boy

Bye bye

Good bye boy

I turn round

Like a dumb beast in a show,

Neither know what I am

Nor where I go,

My language beaten

lnto one name;

I am in love

And that is my shame.

What hurts the soul

My soul adores,

No better than a beast

Upon all fours

And I turn round….

La Louve (Laure Brisa)

Je suis la louve déracinée

Je chante à l'intérieur de moi

Le chant de mon père

Le chant des oiseaux

Le chant d'une enfant

Qui recolle à l'arbre ses branches

Je chante par amour

Par tristesse, par joie

Je chante juste si tu m'aimes

Faux si tu ne m'aimes pas

C’est que je suis déracinée

C’est que j'ai besoin de toi

J’ai ce coeur au dedans de moi

Je ne sais pas ni, d'où il me vient

Ni pourquoi je l'ai

C‘est que je suis déracinée

Mon ami

Que je suis

Qui je suis?

Rien encore, rien encore

Black Girl ( Lead Belly Version)

Black girl, black Girl, dont lie to me

Tell me where did you sleep last night?

In the pines, In the pines, Where the sun never shine

I shivered the whole night through.

Black girl, black girl, where will you go

Im going where the cold wind blows

In the pines, In the pines, Where the sun never shine

I will shiver the whole night through.

Black girl, black Girl, dont lie to me

Tell me where did you sleep last night?

In the pines, In the pines, Where the sun never shine

I shivered the whole night through.

My Husband was a Railroad man

Killed a mile and a half from here

His head, was found, In a drivers wheel

And his body hasn't never been found.

Black girl, black girl, where will you go

I’m going where the cold wind blows

You called me weak, and you called me the most

You called Rita, bring me back home.

(Paroles & Musique : Laure Brisa)

And I'm walking on that land

Following the road

Brightly and burning

With my welcoming hands

Looking for someone and singing for myself :

" Today someone can come

I've just been born "

Child hair silver

I have to thank you

I was born from your silence and your fear

Today someone can come

I've just been born

I'm looking for my hero

I became what you were

King Kong, The Idiot, Hamlet or Don Quichotte

Ninfa Lilo y Primavera (Musique : Laure Brisa - Paroles : Elena Canosa)

Mi penar brota del aire

Oye, oye como cae

Mi cantar es como agua

Que resbala por tus alas

Oye, oye Angel de amor

Mi cantar llora a tu dios

Que se fue y de tu vera

Ya no mas a devolver

Mi penar viene de ahora

Y se va hacia el ayer

Oye, oye como cae

Esa lluvia de color

Oye, oye como cae

Esa flor color de agua

Fija te como resbala

La nieve del naranjal

( Alalalalalalala) That’s what I say (Musique : Jérôme Lapierre - Arr : Laure Brisa  / Paroles : Rolling Stones)

When I'm drivin' in my car

And that man comes on the radio

And he's tellin' me more and more

Information

Supposed to fire my imagination.

I can't get no satisfaction,

Cause I try and I try and I try and I try.

But I can't get no satisfaction,

Alalalalalalala, that's what I say.

When I'm watchin' my TV

And that girl comes on to tell me

How white my shirts can be.

But she can't be a girl ‘cause she doesn't smoke

The same cigarrettes as me.

I can't get no satisfaction,

Cause I try and I try and I try and I try.

But I can't get no girl reaction,

Alalalalalalala, that's what I say.

When I'm ridin' round the world

And I'm doin' this and I'm signing that

And I'm tryin' to make some boy

Who tells me baby better come back later next week

'Cause you see I'm on losing streak.

I can't get no satisfaction,

Alalalalalalala, that's what I say.

Mister James ( Paroles & Musique : Laure Brisa)

Mister James

You got your arms

Got your brain

Got your legs

Got your eyes

Got your voice

Got your heart

So, why can’t you say

I love you

Or just, I wanna be with you

Mister James Mister Hero, you’re a child

Shoo shoo chéri, bye bye baby

Mister James

You can smile

You can sing

You can cook

You can swim

You can snore

So, why can’t you say

I love you

Or just, I wanna be with you

Mister James Mister Hero, you’re a child

Shoo shoo chéri, bye bye baby

Mister James you’ve got it all

You got talent

You got beauty

You got friends

You got family

You got me

So, why can’t you say,

I love you

Or just, I wanna be with you

Mister James Mister Hero, you’re a child

Shoo shoo chéri, bye bye bye baby

Ophélia ( Musique : Laure Brisa - Paroles : Indiens d'Amérique / Edgar Poe )

Je fais que je rêve

Je fais que je vole

Je fais que mon cheval vole

Je fais cela

Away then my dearest

Oh! Hie thee away

To lone lake that smiles

In its dream of deep rest

At the many star-isles

That enjewel his breast

Thus, in discourse,

The lovers whiled away

The night that waned and waned

And brought no day.

They fell: for Heaven to them no hope imparts

Who hear not for the beating of their hearts.

Confession (Paroles & Musique : Laure Brisa)

J'ai donné mon coeur au silence

Le mal vient de mon innocence

Je n’appartiens plus à la route

Je regarde défiler des paysages,

Et je les déconstruis

Va pars, va fuis

I’m the silent murderer

Tu as soufflé quelque chose en moi

Qui me fait exister

Rien ne m'anime que ton absence

Et l'espoir

Pourtant si tu me rejoignais,

She looked into infinity and knelt

De rapides coursiers m'emportent

Sans peur ni doutes

Vers d'étranges lointains

Et qui me connaît me nomme

Le seigneur sans patrie

Je suis aussi libre que l'aigle

Je suis aussi libre que l'aigle

Oh see starved, hungry see

To be and not to be that is the question
